ANOTHER CHAPTER BEGINS IN

KERBIE
JHOE

Some stories begin with the first meeting.
Kerbie & Jhoe's began long before that.
In college, Kerbie was a friend of Jhoe’s best friend, Dana. Their circles often crossed, but somehow, they never really did. Kerbie had noticed Jhoe before she ever noticed him. He would tell Dana about his crush, while Dana was certain Jhoe would never even realize, so he never really pursued.
She didn’t.
He didn't.
Years passed.
After college, a birthday brought them into the same room for the first time. What began that night started a friendship—easy, honest, and entirely platonic. They talked about life, relationships, and everything in between. Even when the world grew quiet during the pandemic, they remained somewhere in each other’s lives.
Then, in October 2023, they found themselves in the same room again.
This time, they were both single.
This time, they were both ready.
Dana, once again, became the reason their paths crossed.
Kerbie went to the party knowing Jhoe would be there. The old crush resurfaced. They spent the night together, talking, laughing, and somewhere between that night and the many that followed, friendship began to feel like something more.
There were dinners that weren't quite dates, dates that weren't quite planned, and conversations that always seemed to last a little longer than they should.
They talked about what it would mean to choose each other.
Neither of them came into it without history. They had their own lives, their own lessons, and things they needed to leave behind. So before they could begin something new, they chose to make space for it.
In January 2024, they became official.
Since then, their relationship has been built in the ordinary ways: finding good food, looking for the next place to go, working out together, trying new things, sharing the same small obsessions with matcha and strawberries, and learning the rhythms of each other.
They travel well together.
They laugh easily together.
They don't always agree.
But they understand each other.
And perhaps that is the part that matters most.
Because before they were a couple, they were friends. Before they knew where this would lead, they already knew how to talk, how to listen, and how to simply be themselves around each other.
On September 25, 2024, in Vietnam, on Jhoe’s birthday, Kerbie proposed.
Not because their story had been perfect, but because it had been real—and because after all the years, the missed chances, the growing up, and the finding each other again, he knew he didn't want to imagine the next places without her.
Maybe love was never about finding each other for the first time.
Maybe it was about finding each other again,
when the timing was finally right.
After all the places they've been,
they found their way back to each other,
and now they won't let go.
